Just a few more days until you know what.....

It always amazes me at how children behave knowing Santa is coming. Guess the angel pops out in them and they are just adorable until they wake up.....smiles.

We have all the Christmas shopping done. Just the stocking stuff left and that is always difficult for me. We will be having noodles on Sunday this year as Chris will be at his in-law's for the actual day. I really don't mind at all. We enjoy spending Christmas day with Chloe and Isaiah and just watching them with their new found loot. Will be nice just relaxing for a change....smiles.

There is not much going on here right now. I hope to have some pictures up soon as we go get them done. I wanted to wait until every one was healthy and it is beginning to look like we love each other cause we just keep sharing the same old cold over and over. :<( Dave has it now but he is getting to the end of it so maybe after Christmas we can get the family portrait we have wanted for awhile.

I think I'll turn in early tonight....I have deliveries tomorrow and have been delivering for the last two days and I am really tired.

Wonder what Santa might bring?

He is back at work already!

I just can't believe how well Eric has done with his surgery. He went back to work today and made it until 2:30 before he decided he needed to go home and take the heavy meds. It is a miracle for me to see him back so soon after 5 hours of surgery.

Just one more month and we will be posting a picture of his new pearly whites. He is really excited about being able to eat and smile again. I know he is really self-conscious about his teeth and smile and realllllly now that he has no teeth at all. It is all temporary though and will be well worth the wait.

I am really tired tonight and have a lot of work to do this week so I'll try and post again in a day or so.

It's Over!!

He did very well! The surgery was about 5 hours - much longer than the 2.5 they thought it would take but the Doctor was excellent. Of course, Eric is such a clown and it really came out when he came out of the sedation. The first thing he wanted to know was if his tatoos were still there. And then he couldn't find his feet. I told him they were in his shoes and he said well I'll be. He is really having a tough time talking. With no teeth, there are some sounds that come out pretty funny. I am absolutely amazed at how well he is doing though. The swelling is not too bad and he says it is just like having a cut and the cut being sore but no other pain at all. He is eating pretty good and that will speed his recovery I am sure. Some of the people who have had this kind of thing done (loosing 24 teeth at one time) can attest to the pain you should feel after having this but he really is not hurting at all. Sometimes it is just a blessing to see how prayer works up close.

Well, not much happening so I'll sign off for now. The pictures are up so take a look and I'll post more later.

Today is the day...

Eric will have all his teeth removed. He has been in pain for several years because the orthodontist did not do them right and now they are all decayed and very painful. He will be put to sleep like with same day surgery and they will break most of the bone apart to remove them all. He will go for about 4 weeks without any teeth and then will get dentures. I know it is the best thing to do but I worry about how painfull it will be for him. No mom ever wants to have the children hurt.....even when they are grown up.

David is adjusting to being diabetic I think. He still is eating all the wrong things but at least he is testing to see how his sugar is responding to what he eats. They started him on meds yesterday and of course he will need to go to a class to learn about what he should and should not eat. Seems like we never catch a break when it comes to health issues cropping up. The kids very rarely get sick thank God so at least it is just us old farts.

We will be happy when David retires this next year. Our only concern is the 90 days or so until his retirement pay begins. Geesh. Really have to get ready for that one.

I can't seem to get the pictures to post on here. They are there when I publish the post but disappear about an hour later. I'll try and get the thing figured out this weekend while I take care of Eric.

That is about it for now. I'll post later about how it all goes...he will be in surgery they said for at least 2.5 hours. Seems like a long time but then again it will be a very difficult surgery. Please pray all goes well for him.

Well, It's official!

David is home now from visiting with Donnesia while Don is in the hospital. It has been a very scary week but looks like prayer is answered as we had faith it would be. Funny how we have a hard time accepting our faith and we question God as to His intentions but then get very thankful He was listening when we realize things will be okay.

We are waiting to hear fro
m David's tests he had on Wednesday morning. The doctor says he has diabetes and will need to change his lifestyle or he won't be here very long. Of course, following in the Porter manner......he is denying anything is wrong at all...makes you wonder again......smiles.

Chloe is shooting up like a weed all of a sudden. Her birthday and mine are on the same day (24th of November) so I usually get to see her have a good time. Hard to believe she is 11 already. Quite the youn
g lady. Isaiah is going to be 7 on the 4th of January. Another shock. Seems like just yesterday he was a baby.

We are awaiting the outcome of our smallest pup and his problem. TBone will be 2 in March (all three were born on Eric's birthday) but he had emergency surgery yesterday. He is only 2 lbs. 7 ozs. and it was touch and go about him being put to sleep to even have it done. He somehow swallowed a ball and it
got stuck in his intestines which then ruptured. He has lost 6.5 inches of his colon and will have a hard time keeping his weight up if he survives and it looks like he will. David can't wait to see if he thinks he is in Mexico...lol. Said he was going to send him to Don so they could recuperate together. Don will really wonder what we all are talking about I am sure.

I played Pool tonight in my league....I won! I have only been playing for a little over a year but I really enjoy the time out and the people I have met. Our team won last session and tonight I got my part of the prize money....$85! Not bad for an amateur....lol.

Guess I better get in the bed.....I am really tired and lord knows I need all the beauty sleep I can get! I am going to try and post a couple of pics. Hope you can see them.

This one is Chloe back in January when we were babysitting a little baby boy while his dad's sister got married. This child was born hooked on heroin and had a really tough go but is really doing well now that he is not with his mother anymore.

This one was Isaiah about the same time. I know they are old but at least they are pictures.....smiles.

This is Annie (the Black one), Tippy (the one that is asleep) and TBone (the little brown one). Yes, that is a miniature Frisbee beside him...lol.

Annie is 5.5 lbs - Tippy is 5.8 lbs. and TBone is 2.4 lbs. They are on a pillow with a crib sheet over it.

What a week....

Whew! I have really been busy this week. Seems like everything came due at the same time. We took Chloe to Huntington Learning Center this week. She seems to be having some kind of trouble with school and, as usual, the school does not seem to be concerned if she gets a D. They wouldn't test her to see what the problem is so we are taking the steps to find out ourselves.

Isaiah is being a "boy" as Chloe says. He finally has a couple friends in the neighborhood and he really is full of himself. He is into Star Wars and Transformers......if I had only kept all those toys from Eric and Chris I would not be buying them again.....geesh!

On a sad note.....Aunt June's mother passed away. Bessie Fern had been in Hartsville for a while now at a care center...she had alzheimers. June said she got sick about a week ago and then she was gone. We all hate to lose someone we love so I really have been praying for them at this time.

Our dogs....Tippy, Annie and T-Bone....are at it again. We call the the three stooges! The big one is 6 lbs and the little one is just over 3 lbs. We bought a gate to keep them from going upstairs as when it is raining they use the "grass" (carpet) up there. Yuck. They are almost two (born on Eric's birthday) so you would think they would be trained now but no such luck. They do a great job until the weather changes. We will start them in Doggie Bootcamp next week. It is a daycare from Wednesday 'til Friday evening where they will stay and get trained. Manners are a good thing.

Well, I need to get some work done....going to be a long day but I'll be back!

GUESS WHO THIS IS

Just yesterday Mist's dad, my brother Don, said that we should start this blog so that the rest of the family could see pictures of our grand kids. As soon as we figure out how to do it we will post some pictures.
